Company Dental Insurance Plans
Chase Templeton can guide your business to a company dental insurance plan that meets your needs.
This increasingly popular employee benefit is relatively low cost, can help attract and retain staff, and even reduce absences. Take advantage of our expert knowledge to find the best policy for your organisation.
Why company dental insurance will help your business
Statistics from the 2013 Employee Benefits survey* suggest that companies should consider introducing group dental insurance if they want their salary packages to remain competitive.
The survey found an uplift in the number of businesses offering dental cover as a core employee benefit, while the number offering it as a flexible benefit has risen from 11% to 23% since 2009. It also revealed over one in five businesses offer company dental insurance as a voluntary benefit.
Its growing appeal is understandable given its relatively low cost, the value placed on it by employees, and the potential to reduce absenteeism and increase productivity by encouraging staff to seek treatment when they need it – not when they can afford it. Many find NHS charges a disincentive or simply unaffordable as, for example, a crown currently costs £219 – you might double that figure for private treatment.
Choosing a group dental insurance plan
There are a wide range of dental policies available to suit all corporate schemes. Entry level schemes include essential preventative care such as check-ups, oral hygiene and advice, while more extensive company dental plans will cover costlier treatments such as root canal work, bridges, crowns and periodontal (gum) care.
As well as a choice of plans, there are several ways companies can introduce them: as a universal core benefit open to all employees, as part of a flexible benefits package or as a voluntary benefit paid for by the employee. Each has its pros and cons.
To help you find the best value and most effective group dental insurance solution for your business, our employee benefits specialists will work closely with both you and the UK’s leading business dental plan providers, including AXA PPP Healthcare, BUPA, Cigna, Denplan and WPA.
There are many benefits to introducing dental insurance to your company’s salary package. With more and more businesses introducing the benefit you might want to ensure that you’re remaining competitive and able to attract and retain the best staff. You might take into account the message it signals to your staff – that you care about their health – and how that might impact motivation and loyalty. Furthermore there is the potential boost to your bottom line should the prevention and swift treatment of dental health issues help reduce absence.
Help taking out a Group Dental Plan.
- Who pays – and how much? Whilst a universal benefit paid for by the company will undoubtedly find favour, it may not always be practical. You might want to pay, but only for selected staff members, or simply offer the “bulk buying” benefits of a group dental plan into which your staff can themselves buy into.
- How will your employees value this benefit? If in showing a duty of care and interest in your employees’ welfare, could you enhance staff retention and recruitment?
- Do you already offer company health insurance? If yes, talk to us about how you might extend it to include dental cover. If no, why not take a look at the benefits it might bring to your business?
- Would it make sense to offer dental insurance as part of a wider employee benefits package? An integrated employee benefits programme can make your business more attractive to existing and potential employees, be an effective absence management tool and help increase productivity. Other benefits you might weigh up include company medical insurance, group income protection, group cash plans, group critical illness and group life insurance.
