Aviva has announced that from February 1st 2014 it will introduce significant changes designed to simplify and enhance its International Solutions private health insurance scheme.
Key changes set to be introduced by one of the UK’s largest private medical insurers include provision of additional benefits such as cover for pregnancy complications and cancer treatment, aftercare and palliative care, the latter being billed by Aviva as its International Cancer Pledge.
The core benefits package will be increased with the annual benefits level set at £5m whilst in-patient and day-patient care cover will be enhanced to cover organ harvesting and transplants. In addition a near 80 percent increase in rehabilitation cover will be introduced, taking the amount of eligible days from 14 to 25 whilst out-patient cover will now incorporate up to ten speech therapy sessions following a specialist referral or hospital admission.
Greater flexibility will allow customers to build upon their core cover with additional options including a choice of maternity and dental cover and repatriation and compassionate travel, wellbeing and extended out-patient and alternative therapy cover. On the flipside, clients will also be able to cut their premiums by agreeing a higher excess, reducing out-patient cover or removing some core benefits.
Geographical coverage will also be extended and simplified with the scheme’s previous six regions cut to just two – Worldwide and Worldwide excluding the USA and Caribbean with premiums based on risk and medical costs, rather than location.
All customers, wherever they are based, will also enjoy up to 60 days cover for medical emergencies anywhere in the world. In addition a Gulf Solutions policy for group private medical insurance customers will be launched to provide cover for employees based in Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). There will also be an option for individual cover for those living or working in Oman or the UAE.
