Q: What’s a Six Week Wait?

A six week wait option is when you agree to get treatment via the NHS when their waiting list is under 6 weeks long, and private treatment otherwise.

This option is designed to help reduce the cost of your premiums, so could be worth considering if you’re looking for a cost-effective policy. Most health insurance providers will include an option similar to this.

How do I know how long the NHS waiting list is?

To find out how long NHS waiting times currently are, either ask your doctor or search for your local hospital on the NHS website – the waiting times for departments are usually listed here.

Does the six week wait option apply to all treatments?

The six week wait doesn’t normally apply to outpatient treatments.
