Almost every health insurance provider will have different policies available, which will all be designed to offer different levels of cover at different prices.
The more cost-effective private health insurance policies will cover inpatient and daypatient consultation procedures – for example surgeries and recoveries. It’s unlikely they’d cover diagnostic tests or other outpatient treatments, and options such as cancer cover would likely be included as ‘extras’.
Mid-range policies would include the above, plus start to include some outpatient consultations (before diagnosis for example), outpatient diagnostic testing and could include physiotherapy too.
You could expect a comprehensive policy to provide you with unlimited inpatient, day-patient and outpatient cover, plus additional features such as cancer cover, at-home nursing or complementary therapies.
