Q: What do Health Cash Plans cover?

Health Cash Plans are designed to cover your everyday health costs, including optical, dental and prescription fees. They can be brough either as an individual for yourself or your family, or offered as part of a company benefits programme.

Cash Plans can vary between policies and providers, but can typically cover:

  • Dental and optical bills
  • Physiotherapy
  • Alternate or complementary medicines, including homeopathy, acupuncture and chiropractic
  • NHS prescriptions
  • A health screening or assessment (some policies only)
  • A baby or childbirth bonus (some policies only)

What do Health Cash Plans not normally cover?

Again this will vary between policies, and some insurance providers would cover these at additional costs. Typically cash plans wouldn’t cover:

  • Treatment or tests received outside the UK
  • In-patient or day-patient cash benefit for hospital admissions
  • Treatment or support for mental illnesses
  • Treatment in relation to addition or substance abuse
