This varies between policies and providers.
The majority of insurers do have upper or maximum age limits when you take out the policy – on average 75 years but sometimes as low as 65.
The general rule of thumb is that the younger you are, the cheaper your health insurance premiums will be. This is because insurers are working on the thinking that younger individuals need less medical care than elderly people.
Exceptions to this would of course include medical histories, pre-existing conditions and lifestyle choices.
If you’re aged under 18, you could very well be covered on a Family Health Insurance policy instead of having your own individual one.
Whatever your age, your Chase Templeton adviser can help you find a health insurance policy to protect you and your needs. Talk to us today.
